Newsable is the brainchild of Dr Anna Jackson and Julie Starr, whose mission is to create layered, media-rich stories that make complex social issues accessible and engaging to a wide range of New Zealanders.
Dr Anna Jackson
Dr Anna Jackson is a creative producer and lecturer at AUT Colab working in the areas of transmedia production and documentary innovation.
Anna’s professional experience spans a range of creative industries including theatre, film, documentary and transmedia production. She is the the co-director of Transmedia NZ, and an executive producer of online documentary initiative Loading Docs.
Julie Starr works on digital and transformation projects, process mapping and document design. She has a long history working in news companies and a strong interest in open technologies and mindsets.
Julie has taught journalism at AUT University and Wintec, been an analyst with the NZ Open Government Information & Data Programme, and worked on newsroom transformation projects at Fairfax Media NZ and Telegraph Media Group UK.
She was founder of an online content marketplace (since shuttered) called allaboutthestory, and has blogged on and off for a long time at evolvingnewsroom.co.nz.
